I’m pissed. I never thought that I would be writing in defense of Ann Coulter. Actually, I’m not so much defending Ann Coulter as I am bitching about only half of a story being told.

Coulter’s words have been taken out of context and twisted and that pisses me off. When that happens to ANYONE it pisses me off.

I haven’t read any of Miss Coulter’s books and before today, I had never actually read any of her articles. Truth be told, her blatant “hate speech” had turned me off to her completely. I would rather stick myself in the eyes with mechanical pencils than listen to her for longer than the time it takes me to change the channel.

I got a Gerber coupon flyer in the mail yesterday. You know the ones that are addressed to “Current Occupant”? It made me feel special. Anyway, on the back is a picture of an ADORABLE asexual baby smiling over a bowl of fruit with the tag line - Taste the Organic Side of Gerber. To add to the prestige of Gerber’s new line of USDA Certified Organic baby food was the line “Available at fine retailers”…yeah, right. Like Wal-Mart?

That’s wonderful that Gerber is embracing the organic crazy but I have to say that it came across to me as just another marketing gimmick.

Guess who does NOT qualify for Father of the Year. Any ideas? Drum roll please…MY DAD! That’s right folks, he’s fucked up again.

You have to understand that this man is an undiagnosed paranoid delusional person. Undiagnosed since the couple of times that he’s been (court ordered) to see a counselor, Dad convinces said counselor that nothing is wrong with him.

My youngest little brother turned four this weekend. (Happy Birthday, Daniel!!) My step-Mom allowed Dad to pick up the three kids and take them to breakfast. Mind you, not only was it not “his” weekend, but, he also wasn’t supposed to have unsupervised visits with them because of his past physical abuse.

I just got my new issue of Cookie in the mail. On the cover is a glowing thirty-something mom in a micro-mini dress with a huge rock on her hand, holding an adorable baby boy. To complete the picture perfect mom there is a cute as a button blond little girl holding onto “mommy’s” leg.

I read Cookie because it’s an upscale mom’s magazine that has tons of high-end kid’s products and some pretty good articles that are geared more toward the actual woman than issues with the kids. Basically, it’s a magazine for women who also happen to have kids.

What is wrong with this picture?

We have a jam-packed day planned, let me tell ya. I put Cara down for a nap about thirty minutes ago. I was outside talking to my mom and noticed that Tucker had Cara in the living room. Fearing something was wrong (since she was supposed to be taking a nap, I rushed inside to see WTF.

Hollyn’s friend, Jennifer, kindly mailed me her copy of The No-Cry Sleep Solution book. She enclosed a handwritten note (great penmanship, by the way!) saying, “Good Luck! Chapter 4 is the one to read if you want the quick read”.

I thumbed through the first three chapters. They contained basic safety information about your child’s sleep environment, the basics on your child’s sleep cycle and then a chapter on “sleep logs”. The vast majority of it was stuff that I’ve previously read in other resources, so I have to admit that I wasn’t the most diligent study on Chapters 1-3.

Last night, I procured something I like to call “liquid love“. This 92 proof bottle of warm fuzziness is probably some of the best rum I’ve ever had the pleasure to sample; I was in a sorority in college…I’ve drank a lot of rum.

You know, sometimes mamma’s gotta let it all hang out.

I am so tired of writing about Cara and whether or not she sleeps. Granted, that’s about the only thing that I think about these days. So I’m sure that’s why Cara’s sleep patterns are the only thing I can find to write.

Well, last night was the first night that I had any type of guilt surrounding the Ferber Method.

On the two mother’s forums that I’m a member of, Peach and Everything Baby, all I ever read about the CIO (cry it out) approach was how hard it was on the mother. “It’s so hard the first couple of nights but it’s so worth it”.

There appears to be a proverbial light at the end of the tunnel.

Cara went down last night at 7 pm and ended up not going back to sleep until 8:28 pm. She slept all the way until 2:30 this morning at which point I went in there and boobed her and put her back to bed. She slept until right before 8 am.

Cara went to sleep last night at 7:15 pm. She promptly woke up at 7:30 pm and we implemented our plan once she woke. She cried and fussed and flipped us the baby finger until 8:32 pm. Tucker and I took turns going in and reassuring her.
