It’s cleaning time, kiddos. Kind of like “business time“, but not…that would really be a completely different type of post.
Mom’s supposed to be here tomorrow or Sunday. [I can’t really remember] I know that she’s leaving for here early Saturday morning. I also know that the state of the apartment ain’t gonna cut it.
Normally, I would have gone through my archives and found all of the times that I had referenced the apartment being a mess. Then, I would have linked “apartment ain’t gonna cut it” with five different posts. [A link per word…I have full faith that I have that many]
But, today I don’t feel like it and honestly, would you go read them anyway? I’m not throwing stones. Really, I’m not. I just don’t see the point in spending a good deal of time on some pointless activity. [Well, this particular pointless activity anyway]
So, yeah. Cleaning. Gotta do it.
That is all.
Did you quit reading? I was just joking with the “that is all” thing.
I have to tell you about a book I’m reading right now. I got it for free and the gift certificate is being donated to charity and all of that great shit. [Just wanted to cover all of my proverbial bases and all of that]
The name of the book is The Middle Place.
Seriously, oh my shit!
OK. Just for the record, I have no idea what that means or why I say it. But, when I get really excited about something, I tend to say nonsensical things like that.
Back to the book.
When I got it in the mail, I convinced myself that I shouldn’t even open it. I have other stuff in front of it in my books for review queue and I’m reading a book for pure pleasure; why add another?
I finally gave in and before I knew it, I had read the prologue and was on to Chapter One. Doh!
One of the early quotes that I LOVE is: “On a good day, when the light was right, before college added things to my body that laziness has created a permanent home for, someone might have called me beautiful.”
How great is that? Haven’t you felt that way once or twice? [Or a thousand times?]
There are more wonderful insights, but that would require me to type what Corrigan has written and why do that when you can just buy her book and read it yourself.
Anyway, The Middle Place comes out Jan. 8, 2008 and I’m telling you to preorder. You won’t be sorry.
Sounds like a commercial, doesn’t it? Oh well. I really dig this book.
