Take it from me, you’ll learn quickly how to get up from the couch and still keep a newborn’s head from flopping off of your boob. I learned to pour a sippy cup while holding the baby on my boob. That should be an Olympic event.

You’ll be fine, you’ll get through it and you will laugh one day sooner rather than later about how scared you were. It’ll be hectic and horrible and wonderful all at the same time. Don’t worry about your lack of baby stuff. Newborns don’t need a lot. Don’t worry about the grocery store. Either go by yourself for a break or send your husband. It will all be great once you look into little Oliver’s eyes for the first time!

You can do it, Amy. Remember when we thought we couldn’t even take one out? That wasn’t so long ago.

I’ll tell you that I’m surviving. The long nights are hard sometimes, but it’s all worth it when I hear Jack look at Lexi and say, “Momma! Bay-bee!” It makes me so happy.

As far as all the stuff. You and I both know that 80% of the stuff on the market is crap that you don’t need. Especially, in the first 6 weeks.

You’re a way more chill mom than me, so if I can do this, you can too! I will say though, that we might have to revive our “evening clocking-out-and-phone-call” tradition!

I can totally relate. I went through the same thing a year and a half ago when I was waiting to have D. I was just getting started with my writing business when I got pregnant with him and was already dealing with K, who was 15 months when he was born. I have survived so far, with a portion of my sanity still intact.

I do not grocery shop alone, however. Tried it once…can’t do it. Now hubs handles that and has actually started taking both babies with him. My weekly hour of peace…

as a soon-to-be mom of 3 under 3, i’ve been there, done that. it does get rather hectic at times but seeing our little ones interacting together makes it all worth it. of course, i might think a little differently after i have a 2 yr. old, a 1 yr. old, and a newborn (eep!) hang in there, take lots of deep breaths, and have plenty of alcohol on hand
