Good for you! I would breastfeed in public every once in a while with #2, less with #3 because we rarely went anywhere with him. But I wouldn't dream of nursing in the bathroom--no way, no how!! I was always discreet, for the benefit of those around me, but I honestly welcomed the day some stick-up-the-butt busy body even so much a strongly *suggested* that I take it to the ladies room. "Sure--just as long as you bring your dinner and eat in the stinky, cramped, toilet stall, too. Mmmmmm, floaters with your chicken fingers...doesn't that sound delish???"

After that, my plan included whipping out a breast and dousing them with boobiejuice all the while yelling, "Soylent Green is people!!!!"

Sadly, no one ever pushed me on the matter. Too bad.

And cover up in my own home? You're lucky I'm not sitting here in my underwear--this is as covered up as I get.

And honestly, it's just a breast. It would have been okey dokey with most of those people had you worn a little Paris Hilton-inspired outfit in, but God forbid you use that breast for what it was intended for.

I don't notice if people are giving us dirty looks when we go out. But with three little boys, I am far too busy keeping them busy and really wouldn't notice if people were glaring at us. If they want to pay our bill, then I will care what they think. Until then, let them glare.

I totally get what you are saying. If you go against the norm people think it is wrong. I didn't like breastfeeding in public with my first kid but when #2 came I knew I had to get over it or #1 wouldn't get to do stuff she deserved to do like take gymnastic lessons.

I know exactly what you mean about breastfeeding. I once had to cover my child in my OWN HOME because a visitor was uncomfortable with it. I did like you did, fuck a bunch of that.
I think the looks will always come, we still get them, because ignorant people expect that a child in a restaurant WILL cause a scene. The few times it happens, look around. Those select few will be nodding their heads in true "i told you so-edness".

Screw the world and its haters. Do right by your family. It's all we can do.

I never breastfed in public, because, well... I never breastfed... Jack was always in a high-chair and now a booster seat... The point of all of this?? We STILL get nasty looks!

So, my friend, the moral to the story is that you're going to be damned if you do and damned if you don't, so do what makes you (and your toddler) happy!

I feel your pain, sister. Well, not with the breastfeeding thing. I always nursed in public with a somewhat challenging expression on my face..."Go ahead, make my day", if you will. However, our youngest has significantly reduced our restaurant dining excursions. He also has never been a fan of the high chair or booster seat and does not use one at home. He also has this lovely way of scarfing down his food as fast as he possibly can and then demanding loudly that he's DONE and READY TO GO. It has actually been a blessing in disguise because now we reserve dining out for date-nights and go to places where people don't bring kids. It's lovely.
