When I first saw this I had my judgments, of course I was pregnant at the time. I thought that at a certain age the child should not be reminded to be nursed. Now I have a different frame of mind on things. Although, I think we personally might not consider ourselves to feed a child that long. However, if you go in thinking child lead weaning this is what you are looking at. Weaning when the child is developmentally ready for it.

I personally do child lead weaning and I would really be upset if one day one would tell me I am molesting our daughter, breastfeeding is not sexual.

I'm a big advocate for breastfeeding, even extended breastfeeding, but this kind of creeps me out. Both of my boys weaned around the 15 month mark, one voluntarily and one with a little coercion on my part. I have a friend who allows her kids to self-wean and the older 2 were well past age 3 when they finally gave it up. Her youngest is turning 4 soon and still going strong. She also seems to have very little coping skills, the slightest disappointment sends her suckling at her mama's breast. I don't know what the cut-off age should be, I guess up to the child but within reason.

I don't know the exact age a child should be weaned, but I think it should be well before the age of 8. My son bf for 7 months and my daughter for 18 months. I think I would have cut her off at age 2 if she hadn't weaned by then. My son is now 5 and I can't imagine breastfeeding a child his age -- weird! He plays with legos and power rangers, for goodness sake!

I'm a big breastfeeding supporter and bf'd my two boys past the age of one. But this? There is something not right about it. It has gone well beyond nourishment and mother-child bonding into something very twisted.

It's like a car accident. I don't WANT to look, but I can't stop.

Ew.

Her kids are drawing pictures of breasts. My kids draw people and animals, not the fridge where their food comes from.

I understand the benefits of breatfeeding. That being said, I have always maintained the solid position that:

"If you can serve yourself? You are too damned old".

Ew.

I am with mrs big w. This video is borderline molestation. IMHO,If the child can ask for it by name, they don't need it anymore. My daughter nursed until about 6 months, too early to stop for me but it wasn't up to me, it was up to her.

To each his own I suppose..... but, in my world.... kids aren't supposed to remember breast feeding when they grow up.

My first 2 quit nursing before I was ready to quit (both lost interest around the time I got pregnant, so.... it worked out fine)

But, at 8..... it's borderline molestation.

I remember seeing that when it first came out and I'm as grossed out by it now as I was then. I bottle fed mine and will with the current, please be born today, baby. Having said that, I think breastfeeding is an amazingly beautiful thing...but not at eight. Not even at four in my mind.
