The “retro” cartoon character is in big demand right now. The Cartoon Network has Boomerang that shows all of the classic cartoons from back in the day and it’s the only place that I can find Tom and Jerry-one of Cara’s favorite “new” cartoons.
I think this retro cartoon thing is in response to the hoochiness that is [or I guess was] Bratz and the ever shortening skirt of Barbie.
Strawberry Shortcake is one of those cartoon characters and reminds me of when I was a kid and she’s one of the few that doesn’t annoy me.
This was Cara’s first exposure to Strawberry Shortcake and she really seemed to dig it. She sat through the entire DVD and asked for “more hortcake!!” after it was over.
I thought that it was a cute DVD and for the most part it didn’t grate on my nerves. I do think that they should have been a bit more choosy with the voice talent but that’s just me being picky and Cara didn’t seem to care one bit about the bad singing.
When I get a DVD to review that’s geared for Cara, I judge it on whether or not I would take it back to the store the second it gets into Cara’s grubby little paws. This wasn’t one of the DVDs. I’ll just make sure that I stick my fingers in my ears when the singing starts.
Since you made it all the way to the end of this review, you might as well head on over to PBN to comment and get a chance to win a free copy of Strawberry Shortcake:Happily Ever After for your own grubby handed kids.
