While Batman is my all time favorite superhero–this post is proof–I haven’t played Batman: Arkham Asylum.
I know, I know. Please don’t stone me! I’m fully aware of the rave reviews that game received from just about everyone in the gaming industry. And the game looked cool but I was playing something else at the time–probably Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
I had considered skipping Warner Bros. series of meetings since my brain had turned into so much mush but in the end, I tagged along and I’m glad I did.
Arkham City was one of the games that was demoed at one point, the presenter mentioned that issues with Arkham Asylum had been fixed. The Xbox360 version of Arkham Asylum received a score of 92 from Metacritic; I guess they’re hoping for a score of 100?
Penguin is one of the many adversaries in this game and he’s perfect from his monocle to the hackney accent. Catwoman also showed up to the party and in the gameplay we were shown, you can jump into her quite sexy shoes and kick much ass. I can’t decide which is hotter: Batman or Catwoman. Check out the trailer below and you’ll get a taste of what I mean. Psst! Robin’s also a playable character. Don’t tell anyone, OK?
The art direction in Arkham City is spot on with just the right amount of grit balanced with well textured, smooth superhero outfits. This isn’t a game that’s meant to be shiny and happy and it’s not but it also doesn’t weigh you down with ugly and dirty and depressing.
The game hits shelves in October–plenty of time for you to buy the game, play the game, wrap the game and then stash it under the Christmas tree so it looks like someone likes you.
