An open letter to Arkansas weather:
Dear Arkansas weather,
While my family and I lived in Florida for four years, we constantly complained about the fact that Florida weather didn’t provide us with seasons. The general feel of the place was sticky and warm with about a week of “winter”. There were no months of getting to see the leaves change and no gradual thaw accompanied by jonquils.
You can imagine our excitement when we moved back to Arkansas in March and actually had to wear a coat!
Well, Arkansas weather, now it’s almost Christmas and all of the beautiful leaves are gone. I had been expecting constant cold or at least constant chilly. However, you haven’t seemed to be able to make up your mind.
Last week we had ice and sleet and were stuck in our apartment for about two days. By that Friday, all of the ice and sleet were gone and it was 70 degrees.
Seriously?! 70 degrees?!!
I just walked out of our front door and was greeted by an arctic blast of 30 mph wind and it literally took my breath away. Do you see where I’m going with this, Arkansas weather? I’m looking for a bit of continuity. I understand that you have bigger things on your plate than this humble letter but I’m getting really tired of having to watch the weather so that I’ll know if I should dress my kids in snow suits or shorts.
So, if you could make the time, would you please make it a manageable 30 something. That way, we have a chance of getting snow every now and then and I don’t have to worry about turning on the air conditioner.
Humbly yours,
Freezing and then sweating and then freezing again in Arkansas.
