Back in 2002 I sat in my car outside of Quiznos. I was on my break and the sun had just gone down. It was almost time for me to get off work anyway and I figured I had earned a quick nap. The seat was on it’s way to a fully reclined position when this voice came on NPR and captivated me.
Caramel and coffee and whipped cream and sex.
They played Come Away With Me – it was the first time I had heard the song – and I couldn’t get enough of it or that voice.
Eight years later, Norah Jones has released a new album – …Featuring Norah Jones. Available on CD, vinyl/LP, downloadable in MP3 format,
you’ll be surprised by the different styles and the range of artists tapped for this project.
As soon as I got the CD in from One2One Network and got it popped in my laptop, I started making a list of my favorite songs from the album and by the time I was done, I had listed 14 of the 18 songs. And I like the four I didn’t list…they just weren’t my favorites.
Lots of jazz in this record, lots of soul, a dash of country and just the right amount of funk. Though I can’t listen to …Featuring Norah Jones everyday – it’s a “mood” record for me – once a week isn’t out of the ordinary.
