Good Bye Cable, Good Bye

Share:

It started out innocently enough.

Tucker – I think next pay period I’m going to go get a pair of rabbit ears.

Me – Ok (Because I wasn’t really listening to him).

Tucker – You know, that way we can test out not having cable.

Me – Yeah. That’s coo…WAIT. What?!

That’s right folks. No cable. No CNN, no BBC, no MSNBC, no History Channel, no A&E. Do I really need to go on?

I guess in theory it makes since. Tucker will be out of the Navy at the end of April. Cable is pretty expensive and that money could be put into savings so that we will have some “wiggle room” once we get back to Arkansas. It’s kinda like Communism, sounds great in theory but in practice it sucks. Yes, I am fully aware that I just compared my potential loss of cable to Communism.

Before we moved here, we didn’t have cable. For quite some time, we didn’t even have Internet. Gasp!

So, while the lack of cable obviously didn’t kill me, I have gotten rather used to having it. There are some really great infomercials on at 2 am and even if I’m not up to watch them, it’s comforting to know that they are there.

Next payday is the 13th of July; Friday the 13th. Appropriate, don’t you think? I’m not sure if Tucker is going to pull the plug on the 13th or if we’re just going to purchase the afore mentioned rabbit ears.

But, either way I have a sneaking suspicion that it’s going to suck…really, really hard.
