I Love My Husband

So if it sickens you to read about someone talking about how much they love their spouse then I suggest you look through my archives since there’s TONS of conversations that demonstrate how juvenile my husband can be – anal bleaching and penis touching are two of my favorites.

This weekend is Tucker’s “drill weekend”.  Normally that occurs on the first weekend of the month but due to the New Year and all, the command moved the weekend to now.

This whole week has been a bit of a blur and I didn’t realize that today was Friday until Tucker started to pack all of his stuff.

I’ve always known that I “married up” and today really drove that home for me.

Last night was hell.  Ollie is having a really rough time with teething and Cara woke up at 1 this morning and demanded “MOMMY NIGHT NIGHT!” while she patted her pillow.  I laid next to her for a few minutes until I realized that Cara wasn’t going to drift off to sleep with me in her room.  I left and was comforted by her screaming at the top of her lungs for about 30 minutes.

When Cara was finally quiet, Oliver awoke and I think I finally got to sleep sometime around 3am.

Needless to say [though I will], no amount of coffee was sufficient to make me feel even halfway human.  That’s when Tucker’s awesomeness really shown.

Since we go through milk like a family of calves, we had to go grocery shopping before Tucker headed out.  We bundled the kids up and headed off to Sam’s Club.  One of Cara’s favorite food groups is that of the hot dog [HOTBOB!] and Sam’s has these huge Nathan’s Hotdogs that are absolutely amazing.  Cara got one to herself along with a RED ICEY!!! and she was in hog heaven.

We bought stuff to tied Cara and me over for the weekend and made our way home.

Once home, we put Cara down for a nap and Tucker cleaned the clean clothes [that he was folding] off of the bed so that Oliver and I could hang out in the bedroom with Tucker. Eventually I couldn’t keep my eyes open anylonger and Tucker took Ollie into the living room so that I could take a nap.

I awoke about two hours later feeling very refreshed and was greeted by a very hungry three month old and a very happy two year old.

While I made dinner, Tucker retreated to the bedroom.  I heard him rustling around in there and would occasionally see him come out of our bedroom for a trashbag.

Turns out that Tucker was moving all of the clothes that had been in our bedroom floor [and had been peed on by Oscar, the bastard cat] into a more managable pile to wash at a later date.  I saw bedroom floor that I haven’t seen in quite a while.

I was utterly amazed, and thankful, and guilty, and flabbergasted, and…well, you get the point.

I’m not going to lie and say that everything is ALWAYS rosy around here because that’s just not the case.  But, I do realize that I am very, VERY lucky to have such an amazing man in my life.  Tucker genuinely enjoys Cara and he and Oliver are thick as thieves.

I hear too many horror stories of guys who seem to not give two shits about their kids and guys who constantly complain about their wives and they never want to spend any time with their kids…much less their wives.

Tonight was NOT an easy night by any means.

Cara was missing her dad and Oliver is still in pain from the teething thing and was especially fussy but I know that I’m damn lucky and I also know that Tucker will be home on Sunday.

All of that being said, my mom mentioned that she wants to keep Cara again “sometime soon” so I’m seriously considering giving Mom a call tomorrow to see if Mom wants to keep Cara tomorrow night.  Though taking care of two kids by myself isn’t the worst thing in the world, it’s definitely easier when Tucker is around and if Mom wants Cara to spend the night then who am I to stand in Mom’s way?
