I loaded all of these to my Flickr account so Mom could see them–so you wouldn’t have to–but my Flickr account is on its period and decided to be temperamental. AND I figured it would be tons of fun to do the whole “Family Vacation Slideshow” thing. Fun for me anyway. [nggallery id=6]

Sandbox Trip
Last weekend was Tucker’s drill weekend and since it was a very fair day, the kids and I headed to the playground. Unfortunately, we had to cut our play short since our bedroom–where Sophie spends a lot of her time–faces the playground and Sophie was howling loud enough to be an embarrassment. [nggallery id=5]
Word of the Day: Oneirodynia

Oneirodynia [o·nei·ro·dyn·i·a (o-ni’ro-din’e-?)] n. Intense mental disturbance or distress associated with dreaming. I don’t remember having a lot of bad dreams. In fact, now that I think about it, no nightmares stick out in my mind. That could possibly be due to me lacking a hippocampus but that hasn’t been proven so at this point,… Continue reading Word of the Day: Oneirodynia
Like a Hello Kitty Fly Girl…but Nicer

Today was a ridiculously productive day for me. Some would like to attribute it to the fact I started on my ADD meds again but since I’m only at 12mg at the moment, I like to attribute it to my general awesomeness. At any rate, I sat down for a breather and Cara jumped in… Continue reading Like a Hello Kitty Fly Girl…but Nicer
Four Pieces of One Heart

At night, about an hour before I plan on going to bed…or whatever, I go outside and read. The kids are in bed, Tucker’s usually watching his YouTube channels and that time alone is my way of decompressing from the day. Last night I came in to get some more peach tea to find Ollie… Continue reading Four Pieces of One Heart

The Dance of the Sugarplum Rapunzel

While I was at Blissdom last week, Mom kept the kids. The one thing Cara wanted in the entire world was to go see the movie Rapunzel; I suspect she identified with Rapunzel’s blonde hair. On one of our Skype calls, Cara showed me the Rapunzel dress-up outfit Mom had bought for her and the amount… Continue reading The Dance of the Sugarplum Rapunzel
iRobot: Puts the Geek into Cleaning

Once upon a time, there was a boy who joined the Navy. Now this boy wasn’t content with just “regular” Navy; this boy wanted high-speed, super cool Navy and what could be cooler than bombs?! Luckily, the boy decided it was no fun to be cold and wet and he quit the Navy’s EOD program.… Continue reading iRobot: Puts the Geek into Cleaning
The Belly Rub of Vulnerability

Vulnerability isn’t celebrated but maybe it should be. Vulnerability is kind of like emotionally leaving the key under the door mat and crossing your fingers that your house isn’t going to be cleaned out while you’re gone. The scary-beautiful part about vulnerability is you will never connect with anything unless you can get to that… Continue reading The Belly Rub of Vulnerability
Blissdom 2011 Recap…Hopefully It’s Not THAT Boring

When I was driving through the hills between Nashville and my house, I had grand plans for the post that would sum up Blissdom better than any other post on the internet. The post would be amazing, inspiring and not one of those posts where only the folks who attended the conference appreciate them. You know… Continue reading Blissdom 2011 Recap…Hopefully It’s Not THAT Boring
Clean Boob of Health

Ductogram was this morning and I suspect years of breastfeeding came in handy as I felt next to nothing. Though the contrast did make me wonky for about fifteen minutes afterwards. I had one of the coolest radiologist evah–I’ve known a lot of radiologists in my time from when I worked at Mayo so I… Continue reading Clean Boob of Health
